Experimental Simulation of Red Sprites in a Laboratory

Over the past three decades, research of high-altitude atmospheric discharges has received a lot attention. This paper presents results experimental modeling red sprites during discharge in low-pressure air. To initiate ionization waves quartz tube, an electrodeless pulseperiodic fed by microsecond voltage pulses with amplitude few kilovolts and repetition rate tens kHz were formed.
